
Chelsea is an experienced pronunciation professional with extensive teaching experience, who has successfully assisted hundreds of students to modify and neutralize their accents. Ms. Woods is U.S. based, and her native language is American English. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Oberlin College and a Master’s Degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from Northeastern Illinois University.
During her training, Chelsea developed an affinity for teaching pronunciation and accent modification; she has focused her career on helping students to modify their accents, in order to be better received and understood by their audiences.
Toward that end, she has worked with students in countries from six continents, including Afghanistan, Angola, Argentina, Australia, Bangladesh, Bosnia, Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Ecuador, France, Greece, Haiti, Honduras, India, Iran, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Malaysia, Mexico, Moldova, Morocco, Netherlands, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Poland, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Spain, Syria, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, and Vietnam. She joins this global community from her office in Chicago, teaching internationally through video conferencing (Skype or Zoom).
Since many students feel self-conscious about their accents, Chelsea offers a welcoming atmosphere where her skills as a patient and encouraging instructor shine through. Each student is a partner, and consequently she feels personally invested in their success.
